Meyer Bergman was formed in 2004 by its Chairman, Ton Meijer, and its Chief Executive Officer, Markus Meijer from the core investment management platform of its predecessor MAB Group.
MAB Group was established by Ton Meijer in the Netherlands in 1970. Initially, MAB Group developed retail properties in the Netherlands and later expanded to develop properties in five other European countries. By 2004, MAB Group employed 170 professionals across Europe and had invested over €7.5 billion in real estate, developing over 35 million sq ft of space when it sold a portfolio of properties and developments to ABN AMRO Bouwfonds, along with the Group’s name and its Dutch, French and German development subsidiaries. Meyer Bergman was established with the retained investment and management arms of the company.
